Culture of Care
With public masses and church meetings suspended, our Faith Sharing Group met for the first time on Zoom on Tuesday 12 January. We shared the theme, “The culture of care as a path to peace” based on the Pope’s World Day of Peace message delivered on 1 January. Our sharing always provides very interesting perspectives maybe because we come from different parts of the world. But all paths must lead to peace, and a good session ended with us being more aware of the need to adopt this culture of peace into our daily life. Our next meeting is scheduled for Sunday 7 February hopeful that public masses will be available again by then.
Landings
Welcoming Returning Catholics. This is a journey accompaniment for Catholics who are returning after some time away from Church. Returning to Church is not as simple as walking back into the pews. There are a lot of emotions at play. Landings is structured to be a safe harbor in a private environment to contemplate returning. We intend to start in early February. If you are interested please enquire.
December-6th-Sunday Faith Sharing Group
Our Faith Sharing Group will next meet after mass on Sunday 6th December. The theme for this session will be “Advent: Welcoming our Lord into Humanity”. Our sessions are an hour and based on prepared questions for sharing from the ‘I’ perspective. All are welcome.
December-16th-Feast of the Seven Thai Martyrs
The Thai Church will observe this feast day on 16 December. The situation for martyrdom happened in December 1940 in the Catholic village of Song Khon in Northeast Thailand. They were beatified by Pope John Paul II on 24 October 1989. Here is a write up on the Seven Martyrs.
Welcome into Full Communion with the Catholic Church
The community welcome Ann into our community. Ann originates from Kazakhstan and was baptized into the Orthodox Church there. She had asked to be in full communion with the Catholic Church. Ann spent time in catechetical and spiritual formation before her reception into full communion last Sunday. Welcome!
October – Month of the Rosary
As 7th October is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, October is named Month of the Rosary in the life of the Church. So, during this month, the community has chosen to recite the rosary publicly each Sunday immediately after mass. Each Sunday, in turn, we will meditate on the four mysteries, Joyful, Sorrowful, Luminous, and Glorious. Please feel welcome to stay and join in this great Marian devotion.
Two new Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Bob Van Es and Anthony See were last weeks commissioned as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to assist the priest in administering Holy Communion. They were commissioned with the approval of the Pastor to serve their ministry only in this 10 am English language mass at our Cathedral.
